PEALS Board examines Chamorro Village deal
by Nick Delgado
The Guam Professional Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors Board continues its investigation into a $25,000 contract awarded to JAD & Associates to develop plans for the new Chamorro Village project. PEALS Board Vice-Chairperson Sonny Perez says they are looking at whether the Department of Public Works wrongfully awarded the contract to JAD.
He adds the bid was not publicly announced and JAD can only perform civil engineering and construction management services and not architectural services. "I can comment that if certain actions as a result of this project comes out and cannot be justified properly by these individuals responsible, that the boards position would be that we take appropriate against those individuals responsible for this project."
Perez anticipates the board will make a final decision during their next meeting.
