Senator Ben Pangelinan introduced Bill 238, which would create a Department of Education Financial Supervisory Commission.  This organization is responsible for monitoring the agency and making sure it is accountable to its annual expenditure plan.  Senator Pangelinan says he created the bill in response to the "lack of financial leadership at DOE and the need for immediate intervention and long-term solution".

The Commission would be comprised of senior level financial experts within the government and they would be tasked with working with GDOE to regulate their financial status and issue monthly status reports in order to ensure that proper oversight requirements are met.

The feds have threatened a third-party receivership if the agency doesn't get its act together.
