While the island was spared from the damaging winds of Tropical Storm 18W, some torrential downpours today were still a major problem for southern residents.  Agat mayor Carol Tayama says that flooding is a constant threat in her village.

She explained, "Right now our rivers are overflowing and I know it's going to cause flooding in a lot of the homes. Taleyfac River, Fanili River, and then we have problems with all the rain coming from the mountains. Agat is just a flood zone."

Tayama says that Public Works and Civil Defense are aware of the issues but for now, the best option during storms is to relocate residents in flood zones to shelters.
