The Father Duenas Memorial High School is under new leadership this year as the Salesian Order of Don Bosco has taken the school's reigns. His full name is Father Vitaliano Dimaranan, but he prefers to be called "Father Chito". He is the new principal of the Father Duenas Memorial School.

A member of the Catholic order known as the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Chito says he hopes to carry on and expand upon the 60 year tradition of FD. "One core idea of the vision statement is to be deeply steeped in tradition at the same time giving room to a sort of evolution so we form an evolving Christian community," he explained.

Archbishop Anthony Apuron had been looking for a religious order to run FD, and eventually found the Salesians in the Philippines over a year ago. So what are the Salesians known for? "We are focused on the youth so we are educators of young people so all over the world we run schools, training centers, universities - we have a lot of vocational training centers all over the world," said Fr. Chito.

Fr. Chito will be helped by two other Salesians one who will be the religious affairs director and the other will serve as the athletic director. He says the change in leadership will bring with it some changes, as well. "The changes will come gradually I just drafted what I call a 'principal's thrust' for the new year right now, I'm not in a position to discuss the details of it. But those changes will happen gradually and those changes will definitely not depend on me on us Salesians, but on the people who are on board," he said.

Fr. Chito wants to improve the library science labs and other facilities that he realizes were hit hard by Typhoon Pongsona and his dream is to add a second story to the campus.
