The National Weather Service continues to track Tropical Storm Choi-Wan. A Typhoon Watch remains in effect for Tinian and Saipan, while a Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Guam and Rota. NWS meteorologist Paul Lee says Choi-Wan is expected to cross through the central islands in the CNMI sometime late tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow evening.
The closest approach would be roughly 200 miles and about 70 or 80 miles north of Saipan. As a result, Guam should expect hefty rainfall. He says the island could receive 3" to 6" of rain within the next 24-36 hours. "With this one, we fully expect it to continue to move in a north, northwest track and the most we can see out of this is heavy rains, gusty winds. I wouldn't call it something we'd be afraid of at this point," said Lee.
