The Department of Public Works is in full support of recently introduced helmet legislation. Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz and Senator Tina Rose Muna-Barnes are hoping to require that all individuals riding a motorcycle or scooter are wearing a helmet.

DPW director Larry Perez says the legislation is something that's being implemented across the nation, saying, "We have not seen the bill or actually critiqued it because it's just been recently introduced. But certainly our Office of Highway Safety, they're going to work it and massage it and make sure we have language in there that is reflective of the successes of other jurisdictions nationwide and maybe put some teeth into to ensure that people comply with these requirements."
