Peace Conference

The Peace Guam Conference on suicide prevention and awareness will take place September 11th and 12th at the Holiday Resort and Spa. The conference is free and open to the public.

This year's theme is "uniting hands to empower life." Department of Youth Affairs psychologist, Dr. Juan Rapadas pointed out that high suicide rates have led to increased attention from outside organizations that focus on prevention.

Dr. Rapadas stressed, "suicide has been a major problem on guam over the last fifty to sixty years. We are looking at one of the highest per capita suicide rates in the world.  Thave a conference like this to bring awareness and also suicide prevention efforts awareness is a good thing."
