Sanctuary Incorporated held it's 13th annual Too Cool to Do Drugs conference this afternoon at the Westin hotel in Tumon. The conference focused on the illicit use of drugs and alcohol. More than one hundred parents and their children showed up and participated in various educational workshop sessions aimed at promoting drug and alcohol awareness.
The Executive Director of Sanctuary Incorporated, Sarah Thomas-Nededog expressed her support for the program, "I think most importantly they learn new strategies or reminded of ways in which they can resist drugs and alcohol or they can just stay off of it."
Youth attendees like Michaela told KUAM that these workshops help her and her peers better understand the negative affects that drugs and alcohol have on your life. Michaela said she had high hopes from the day long conference. "I want to learn more about drugs and why it's bad for you and I want to take in what I'm learning and use it later on in life."
