A search for a missing swimmer continues after a 911 call of a distressed individual near Tanguisson Beach in Dededo Tuesday evening.  Guam Fire Department Spokesperson Capt. Nick Garrido says the call came in at around 6:28pm, explaining, "Our units were deployed then, with the US Coast Guard, the Guam Police Department and HSC -25 where they conducted water searches and land searches right behind the former power plant in the Tanguisson area."

Search continued throughout the evening with drones. With the search continued at first light.  "GFD assets continued back into the area, currently we have the gfd vessel out there, along with 2 rescue watercrafts, and the US Coast Guard," he said.

Garrido says based on information provided, they are looking for a 22-year old male individual who was swimming with a group and was pulled out due to the current water conditions. 

"Based on information from the US Coast Guard, the drift is going south and we are conducting out area of operations at the last known area and following the water search and drift," he said.

As the search for the young man continues, Garrido reminds the community to be vigilant, saying, "Along with heeding to the hazardous surf and sea are currently in affect. we are currently in a high surf advisory, we also at a high risk of rip currents given the weather, please heed to the warnings, and as we previously stated before, if you are uncomfortable or unsure please stay away from the water, or activity that could lead to an incident like this."
