Navy Family Child Care program expands quality child care options to off-base providers on Guam

The Guam Metro Family Child Care Office has expanded its FCC program to include providers living off base, giving military families greater access to flexible, affordable, and high-quality child care in their communities.
The program offers part-time, hourly, drop-in, weekend, holiday, and even overnight care through navy-certified providers, supplementing existing child development center and school age care programs.
Regional Family Child Care Director Tenley Thayer said the expansion provides much-needed services to military members while offering business opportunities to local Guam residents.
Providers receive training, support, and access to resources to operate certified homes, with ongoing professional development and regular monitoring.
Rear Admiral Brett Mietus added that the program strengthens partnerships between the military and the Guam community, supporting families and building a more connected island community.
