No dieldrin detected at Yigo well after treatment

The Guam Waterworks Authority confirms its interim treatment system in Yigo is working — with no detection of the pesticide dieldrin after two rounds of testing. Lab results from Well Y-15 show that the granular activated carbon (GAC), system installed earlier this month has successfully removed the contaminant.
GWA says weekly testing will continue, and after two more consecutive “Non-Detect” results, it will ask the Guam EPA to lift the “Do Not Drink Without Treatment” advisory for customers in the Yigo and Santa Rosa areas.
The authority adds that all other wells remain below the interim action level for dieldrin. In the meantime, GWA continues to accept applications for home filtration reimbursement programs, and customers can find updates at guamwatersafety.com.
