The Guam Department of Education announces the official dates for the upcoming School Years SY 2026 - 2027, SY 2027 - 2028, SY 2028 - 2029, SY 2029 – 2030.

The school calendar outlines important dates and events for the academic year, including the start and end dates of each semester, holidays, breaks, professional development days, and parent-teacher conferences. 

The approved calendars ensure consistency across schools and alignment with the Guam Department of Education’s instructional goals and operational needs.

These calendars were approved by the Guam Education Board, and are aligned with the Guam Public School System’s strategic plan. 

To minimize financial disruption the start date of each school year will gradually shift starting with SY 2026 – 2027 beginning on August 5th 2026 to SY 2029 – 2030 beginning on August 15th, 2029.

  • SY 2026-2027 | Start: Aug. 5, 2025 | Adjustment: +3 days
  • SY 2027-2028 | Start: Aug. 9, 2025 | Adjustment: +3 days 
  • SY 2028-2029 | Start: Aug. 11, 2025 | Adjustment: +4 days
  • SY 2029-2030 | Start: Aug. 15, 2025 | Adjustment: +3 days

During these transition years, a 3-4-day gap will occur at the beginning of the school year. 

These days are not paid workdays for teachers. If you opt to receive income over 26 pay periods, please plan accordingly. 

By default, teacher salaries are allocated over 21 pay periods during the school year, with the 26-pay-period option providing summer coverage.
