Senators to hold joint oversight on dieldrin water contamination

A joint legislative oversight hearing is set for Friday, October 24, as lawmakers take a closer look at dieldrin contamination in Guam’s water supply. The session—hosted by senators Jesse Lujan, Tony Ada, and Sabrina Salas Matanane—will convene at the Guam Congress Building starting at 9 a.m.
Committee members will hear from Guam Waterworks Authority, Guam EPA, and the Department of Public Health and Social Services to assess how agencies have responded to the contamination, what remediation steps are being taken, and how the public is being protected.
Public testimony will also be accepted, allowing community members and advocacy groups to weigh in on the environmental and health impacts of the issue.
The hearing aims to promote transparency, accountability, and coordination as Guam works toward long-term solutions for safe and clean drinking water.
