Education Department’s Division of Special Education hosts “Check Me Out Fair” to support early childhood development

The Guam Department of Education Division of Special Education is inviting families to participate in the upcoming “Check Me Out Fair”, a Child Find community event designed to support early identification of developmental needs in young children.
The Check Me Out Fair provides parents and guardians with free developmental screenings for children ages birth to 21.
The screenings cover key developmental areas such as speech and language, motor skills, social-emotional behavior, and early learning readiness.
The goal is to help families identify potential areas where children may need additional support before they enter school.
“Early intervention is key to helping children reach their full potential,” said Thomas C. Babauta, Assistant Superintendent of the Division of Special Education.
“The Check Me Out Fair is a friendly, no-cost opportunity for parents to learn more about their child’s development and access resources that can make a difference early on.”
The event will feature hands-on activities for children, information tables, and opportunities for parents to speak directly with specialists in early childhood education and special education services.
The event will be held at the Village of Donki, Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to participate in the fun and engaging screening activities. No registration is required.
The Check Me Out Fair is part of the Division of Special Education’s ongoing child find activities, a federal requirement under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act that ensures all children with disabilities are identified, located, and evaluated to determine eligibility for special education and related services.
