16-year-old escapes DYA custody in Mangilao

On the evening of October 1, a 16-year-old male fled on foot from the Department of Youth Affairs Youth Correctional Facility in Mangilao.
According to DYA, the minor ran away around 9 p.m. while retrieving a mop and bucket outside the Intake office. A search of the compound and surrounding area was launched immediately, and Guam Police were notified.
The youth had been in custody since September 2024 for multiple offenses, including burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.
He was last seen wearing a purple George Washington High School polo shirt, black shorts, and black slippers with a white graphic on the strap. The teen is described as CHamoru, 5’4” tall, 148 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, and both a scar and birthmark on the left side of his abdomen.
