Port secures more than $1 million in FEMA funding for security upgrades

The Port Authority of Guam has been awarded more than one million dollars under FEMA’s Port Security Grant program to deliver security upgrades at the island’s only commercial seaport.
The funding will install a new security barrier system at main gate one to prevent unauthorized vehicle access, and provide a modular floating dock system to support port police and U.S. Coast Guard missions.
The grant also advances the Port’s cyber security initiative with upgrades including active directory, a new firewall system, and round-the-clock intrusion detection monitoring.
Port General Manager Rory Respicio said these investments strengthen both physical and cyber security to safeguard people, cargo, and critical missions.
Project activities will be rolled out in phases to minimize impact while enhancements are completed.
