Positive news for Parks & Rec and upcoming projects

There's good news coming out of the Department of Parks & Recreation regarding the Dededo Sports Complex. Agency director Angel Sablan said, "A lot of people use it now – it has been approved for lighting and so that is a great enhancement for people that use that early in the morning, evening, or early afternoon because it will be lit up and will be more safe."
Sablan says another thing that is being worked on with a bid put out? Paseo. "Everybody wants night games," he confirmed. "And so we are really working hard to figure out - again this is a FEMA project- and they only designated so much money to pre-Mawar condition. Unfortunately the bidding that came in for the Paseo, Guerrero Stadium was much more.
"It was a half-million dollars more and FEMA estimated that cost to bring it back. We are trying to figure out whether or not we can do some of the repairs, some of the lights with the FEMA funding. The other enhancements that people want for Paseo and Guerrero, we will just have to wait and find out if we get more funding for that," said Sablan.
He also added that it's welcome good news and DPR is getting up and going with some improvements and enhancements. Last week KUAM checked-up on the Ipan Beach Park, one of many parks getting some much needed improvements by FEMA.
