Woman charged with bringing drugs into prison

A 35-year-old woman is facing felony charges after authorities say she tried to bring drugs into the island’s prison. Court documents allege Kalani Rose Reyes Quichocho dropped-off items for an inmate at the Department of Corrections in Mangilao on Wednesday afternoon.
During inspection, officers discovered a resealable bag labeled for t-shirts that instead contained a meth pipe. Prosecutors say Quichocho first denied knowing about the pipe but later admitted it belonged to her and that she had used meth earlier in the day.
She is charged with promoting major prison contraband and drug possession. Quichocho was booked and held on $3,000 cash bail.
If convicted, she faces up to 11 years behind bars.
