A 59-year-old man is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing a child for several years. According to a magistrate’s complaint, Jerry Lagway Castil was charged Thursday with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct, including first-degree charges.

Police say the abuse began when the girl was just 4 years old and continued until she was 11 or 12. According to the complaint, Castil allegedly told the girl he would have sexual intercourse with her when she turned 13. 

Afraid of Castil, she told police this is why did not report sooner.

An adult brought the allegations to authorities, and investigators interviewed the child, who detailed the abuse. Castil is being held on $30,000 cash bail.
