Mail theft sentencing: Manglona gets home detention

A man who admitted to stealing mail and using stolen credit cards has been sentenced in federal court. 35-year-old Lawrence Manglona will serve six months of home detention as part of a three-year supervised release term.
Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood also ordered Manglona to pay nearly $900 in restitution to JP Morgan Chase.
Prosecutors said Manglona broke into cluster mailboxes in Mangilao, stealing letters, credit cards, and prescription medication—using two of the stolen cards to make purchases at gas stations. He previously violated pretrial release conditions, failed drug tests, and admitted to using meth before being detained in July.
Under a plea deal, Manglona pleaded guilty to two counts of theft of mail and unlawful possession of identification; five other charges were dismissed.
