A Mangilao man accused of stealing a rental car is now facing a long list of charges — crimes police say stretch back to May.  40-year-old Juan Acosta De Leon Guerrero, Jr. has been charged in four separate cases. Among them — attempted murder, home invasion, theft, strangulation, and assault.

Court documents say in May, De Leon Guerrero allegedly broke into a sinajana home with a weapon and attacked a man inside. Weeks later, he reportedly punched another man in the face in Mangilao and, in a separate case, choked a woman while yelling that he wanted her to die.

Over the weekend, police say he stole a 2024 Toyota Corolla from a yard in Mangilao. Days later, officers spotted the vehicle, but he fled — abandoning the car in Winchell’s parking lot. When police finally stopped him, they found the Corolla’s key inside his backpack.

If convicted on all charges, De Leon Guerrero could face 64 years behind bars. He remains jailed on more than $10,000 in cash bail.
