The Bureau of Statistics and Plans has unveiled its tenth coastal sign, this time at Humåtak Bay, thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s recovery funds.

The new sign highlights the Convict Tang, or Kichu in CHamoru, a reef fish known for its striking stripes and synchronized swimming. It also provides important guidance on water safety, marine preserves, and protecting Guam’s fragile coastal ecosystems.

In addition, the display honors Humåtak’s cultural legacy with the story of Fouha Rock, celebrated as the Creation Point in CHamoru tradition.

Visitors can scan QR codes on the sign for real-time beach advisories, reef protection updates, and multilingual resources in several Pacific and Asian languages.

The sign will also be featured during Humåtak’s village fiesta for San Dionisio on Oct. 11.
