The Skål Club of Guam has awarded two $500 scholarships to Hotel Nikko Guam employees, reinforcing its commitment to the growth and professional development of Guam’s tourism and hospitality workforce.

The scholarships were presented to Ms. Maria Javelosa and Mr. Aaron Guerrero to support their enrollment in the Managing Front Office Operations course at Guam Community College.

This specialized training will enhance their skills in guest services, operations, and leadership. These are key areas essential to maintaining the high standards of service that define Hotel Nikko Guam.

The initiative is part of the Skål Club of Guam’s expanded scholarship program, which provides up to $1,000 per semester to member hotels for employees pursuing degrees or certifications in travel, tourism, hospitality, culinary arts, or related fields at the University of Guam or GCC.

Each participating hotel nominates and vets its scholarship recipients, ensuring the awards align with their workforce development goals.

“By supporting the education of our member hotels’ employees, we’re investing not only in their future but also in the quality of Guam’s visitor experience,” said Ernie Galito, President of the Skål Club of Guam. “Maria and Aaron’s dedication to furthering their skills is exactly the kind of commitment we want to encourage in our industry.”

“This partnership with the Skål Club of Guam and Guam Community College allows us to provide meaningful learning opportunities that benefit our employees, our guests, and our island’s tourism industry as a whole,” said Hotel Nikko Guam’s General Manager William Shinozaki.
