A 22-year-old man is facing a string of felony and misdemeanor charges after what police describe as a days-long crime spree targeting elderly victims, stealing vehicles, and even triggering a middle school lockdown.

According to a magistrate’s complaint, Michael Ray Angelo Guzman was arrested Wednesday after a high-speed chase, a crash with a police vehicle, and a violent struggle in a jungle area where he allegedly struck an officer in the face.

Court documents detail a series of incidents beginning in August, when Guzman was accused of stealing jewelry and a cell phone from a 76-year-old woman.

In the following days, he allegedly stole two vehicles from women in their seventies and eighties, burglarized homes, and took other property.

The spree came to a head on Sept. 3, when Guzman allegedly reversed a stolen car into a police unit in Chalan Pago, injuring an officer.

He then fled to Agueda Johnston Middle School, forcing a campus lockdown before being captured later that evening.

Guzman now faces multiple burglary, theft, assault, and motor vehicle charges and remains in custody at the Department of Corrections.
