Public comment open on Camp Blaz fields project

The public now has an opportunity to weigh in on plans for new outdoor playing fields at Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz.
A programmatic agreement memo in support of the project is open for review and comments through Oct. 20.
These PA memos are part of the Section 106 consultation process under the National Historic Preservation Act, giving the community a voice in projects that may affect cultural or historic resources.
This proposal, known as J-402 PA Memo #1, details the construction of outdoor facilities including a running track, multipurpose soccer and football fields, two lighted softball fields with concrete dugouts, and supporting infrastructure.
Plans also call for a restroom facility, concessions, a press box, and training and storage areas.
Community members can review the full memo online through the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific’s Cultural information page, or request a printed copy from the Guam Historic Resources Division in Agana Heights.
