$1M cash bail for man accused in Tuesday’s deadly shooting

A Superior Court judge has ordered a $1 million cash-only bail for Gregory Arthur Romero, the man accused in Tuesday night’s deadly shooting at the Guam Premier Outlets in Tamuning.
Romero, a former marine, is charged with aggravated murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of Keo Reese Cruz Taianao.
Prosecutors allege Romero acted intentionally and with premeditation. Claims his defense team strongly disputes.
Surveillance and social media footage reportedly captured the incident.
During Thursday's magistrate hearing, Defense Attorney Gloria Rudolph called for the charges to be dropped, saying there’s no evidence Romero planned the shooting or showed extreme disregard for life.
She also pointed to Romero’s military service, lack of criminal history, and strong family ties to Guam, asking the court to consider release with electronic monitoring.
But Judge Sean Brown denied that request, saying the charges represent, quote, “the most serious” under Guam law, with a potential life sentence without parole.
Romero’s preliminary hearing is set for June 13.
