Guam’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ community takes center stage at a powerful new showcase honoring the voices that shaped a movement.

“Outspoken: Pride voices that changed Guam” brings together icons and legends to celebrate identity, resilience, and the island's rich history of pride.

On Wednesday, at the DFS Guam boutique hall it was a moment to acknowledge his stories, her stories, and their stories.

Acting Governor Joshua Tenorio spoke on how trying a time it is with the level of pushback the community has been enduring.

“What it means is, is that we have to be very strategic in how we push our agenda forward. but we also have to open our hearts even a bit more than they're already open- that's because nationally, there is a war on trans people. There has been a group of people that has been villainized, they really need our help at this time,” said Tenorio.

Also speaking was one of the main organizers of the event, James Santos who handles marketing at DFS, who says that they wanted to do something significant and meaningful.

“DFS being a very inclusive employer here, diversification, equity is  very important for us.and what are the main pillars - and having a voice and being heard is very important,” said Santos.

The event showcased stories and photography of influential figures and trailblazers of Guam's LGBTQ+ community and will be on display throughout June: Pride Month.
