House Committee advances $200M in major Indo-Pacific Security Bill

A major defense bill passed out of the House Armed Services Committee includes hundreds of millions in investments for Guam.
The committee approved the fiscal year 2025 reconciliation package, which allocates $150 billion for defense, including $200 million for the Guam Defense System.
Also included is $1.1 billion for infrastructure projects across the Indo-Pacific, improving Guam's power grid, Naval Hospital, roads, and waste systems.
$450 million will go to airfield upgrades, and $11 billion will support Pacific deterrence and readiness exercises.
Congressman James Moylan says the package reaffirms commitment to Guam's defense and the security of allies in the region.
