The Agat shooting death investigation that took place earlier this month is now a homicide investigation.

The victim has been identified by Guam Police Department as 36 year old Carl Florence Eucogco Gargarita on Wednesday.

GPD Public Information Officer Norman Analist says a next of kin has been notified.

Officers with the Agat Precinct Command responded to a reported shooting at the GHURA housing project in the Pagachao area of Agat at 9:25pm on April 3rd.

Authorities found a Gargarita suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was rushed to the Guam Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Section were activated and assumed control of the investigation.

A later autopsy ruled his death to be a homicide, according to Analista.

“The investigation revealed that Gargarita arrived at the residence and an altercation
occurred between Gargarita and two unidentified males outside the residence. Shots
were fired and the two suspects left the scene on foot,” Analista said. “One of the suspects was reported to have entered a gray SUV, which fled the scene.”

GPD is asking for the community’s help in locating the two suspects:

* The first suspect is described as male, heavy set, light complected, possibly 5'5
to 5'7, bald, and wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts.
* The second suspect is described as male, thin, darker skin than the first suspect,
possibly 5’7” to 5’9”, wearing a red t-shirt and brown pants.

“GPD does not have further releasable information at this time. GPD remains committed
to ensuring the safety of our community and will provide updates as more information
becomes available. GPD extends heartfelt condolences to the family,” Analista said.
