Pets adopted from Guam Animals In Need and pets who received surgery from the SNIP clinic need to re-register the ‘Save This Life’ microchips.  GAIN executive director Alison Hadley says the company they purchased microchips from has essentially shut down without much warning.

"We aren’t entirely sure what happened," she noted, adding, "but it seems the company has just ceased to exist. Buildings have closed, phone numbers don’t work and the website kind of still works but when you go try to use certain aspects of the site it just isn’t an option."

"The new easy to access website they can reregister is www.freepetchipregistry.com. It is free just as it says. But as long as they register their chip with that site, it puts them in the national database. This is especially important for people who are going to leave the island at some point. If they lose their pets in the states, they still have scanners and stuff. But if the number is only in the GAIN database, that’s not helpful where the pets go missing if it's not here."

GAIN also has a new emergency number after receiving new phones donated by GTA.   For any emergencies after hours, you're asked to call (671) 483-1516.

Hadley said, "This new phone will kind of be replacing it, I want to say its probably been ten years. It's been a while and we understand its going to take time for people to remember that. So we put it on social media often and let people know that its just another avenue to get that word out."

On a separate note, the Yigo Animal Shelter is asking the community to donate these box trays, which they use as cat litter pans.
