Advisories issued after passing storm contaminates all 43 Guam beaches

Guam Environmental Protection Agency’s Beach Watch Program issued a beach advisory including all 43 beaches due to the large amount of rain received from the passing storm.
Storm water runoff may contain additional bacteria and cause many beaches to have high concentrations of unsafe bacteria.
Guam EPA is urging residents to stay safe. Recreational activities in unsafe beaches may result in minor illnesses such as sore throats or diarrhea.
It might also result in more serious illnesses such as meningitis, encephalitis, or severe gastroenteritis.
Children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems have a greater chance of getting sick when they come in contact with contaminated water.
