For six-year-old Ava Cruz, who bravely lives with pulmonary cirrhosis, a chronic condition affecting her lungs and heart, she’s had to fight through many tough days.

But on her magical wish day today, her biggest challenge was deciding what to put in her shopping cart.

The young girl checked off a retail extravaganza at Ross and a first-time visit to the Village of Donki from her wish list, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation Guam and CNMI Chapter.

When KUAM asked how she felt, Ava’s happiness overflowed as she and her family roamed the aisles of Don Don Donki.

Her mother, Jericha Cruz was right by her side and she said, “Her specialist told her, hey, you got to make a wish. She’s like, hey, what is that? I'm like, it’s a wish that you make, and we’ll make it come true depending on the wish.”

“She goes, I always just wanted to not have a budget and just spend so much money–I'm like okay,” she added.

Ava kept an eye out for a variety of plush toys to add to her collection and ended her spree in the dairy aisle for a snack classic, string cheese.

After she was all done, KUAM asked what her favorite thing was about today and Ava excitedly said, “The snacks!”

It was an unforgettable visit with Donki employees and even Donpen the midnight blue penguin rolling out the red carpet for their special guest.

Ava and her family finished her wish day at her favorite restaurant, Pasak Chicken.
