Guam Economic Development Authority Chairman speaks on transparency concerns

At the recent Guam Economic Development Authority board meeting, Chairman David John addressed important matters concerning the agency's commitment to transparency and support for sustainable development initiatives.
During the meeting, Chairman John acknowledged that at the previous board meeting, certain motions may not have followed the open government process as intended.
He restated the agency's dedication to transparency, emphasizing that adherence to proper procedures is vital in upholding the principles of good governance.
The board reaffirmed its strong support for solar energy initiatives and expressed a commitment to supporting the use of CHamoru Land Trust leases to improve infrastructure for housing and economic development.
Chairman John emphasized that the agency opposes converting the municipal golf course, which supports junior golf and Guam's tourism, into a solar farm.
Instead, the board suggested a Public-Private Partnership model, similar to the successful one for the Guam National Tennis Center.
This approach could benefit junior golfers and retirees. GEDA remains dedicated to sustainable and inclusive growth and is ready to work with stakeholders on community-benefiting initiatives.
