Amphibious Aquatics opens summer registration for the Drown-Free Guåhan Initiative

In an effort to increase community capacity and combat Guam's devastating statistic of now more than one fatal drowning a month, summer registration is now open for Amphibious Aquatics’ Drown-Free Guåhan Initiative training sessions.
Summer sessions will again consist of two groups. One targeting youth ages 5 to 17 in coordination with a parent or caregiver and the other is a separate training for adult non-swimmers 18 years and over.
It will be held at the Pacific Islands Club in Tumon on July 5, 12 & 13, 2024, with each 30-minute session focusing on basic water safety, developing awareness, and learning how to minimize the risks of drowning.
“We encourage our community to take the first step towards a safer future and join us for a DFG Summer session. We look forward to increasing awareness, enhancing readiness and continuing to do our part to make Guam a safer place to live, work and visit,” said Andy Lee, Head Coach of Amphibious Aquatics.
“Amphibious and our community partners continue to offer these sessions to build our community capacity and work towards a Drown-Free Guåhan,” he added.
“Following the overwhelming support for our first two rounds of Drown-Free Guåhan training sessions, we are resolved to continue offering opportunities to better equip our community,” said Amphibious Aquatics President, Jennifer Camacho.
“This effort aligns with the Amphibious mission to provide youth and adult training and build water confidence, conditioning and skill in our community. We are grateful to the Pacific Islands Club for hosting us, as well as our sponsors and community partners for stepping up to support this critical safety effort,” she said.
Registration is now open online for basic 30-minute training sessions between 8:00 to 10:15 a.m. on July 5, 12 & 13, 2024 at www.amphibiousguam.com.
A $20 registration fee will be assessed per child/parent pair or adult participant and sessions will be held in Tumon.
