The CNMI government announced that $17.6 million in tax refunds will be sent out this month for the over 12,799 tax returns that have been processed. The first batch of refunds is expected by May 15.

Child Tax refunds amount to $4.4 million, Earned Income Tax Credit amounts to $10.4 million, and Regular Refund/Rebate totals $2.7 million.

“I commend the Department of Finance team for their work in processing refunds quickly to distribute these refunds to our community,” Governor Palacios said in a press release.

Finance Secretary Tracy Norita said actual disbursement of refunds requires a tax return to be error-free. She explained that any errors on returns may cause delays.
