Territorial leaders met with Department of Interior (US DOI) officials in Washington early today for the annual inter-agency meetings.

It's an opportunity for top representatives from multiple federal government agencies to hear from the Insular Area Governors, including Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and the CNMI’s Arnold Palacios.

In a speech during the meeting, Governor Leon Guerrero requested funding and other assistance to construct a state-of-the art medical complex.

She also expressed disappointment, and was joined by Congressman Jim Moylan, that the Interior Department is opposing Moylan's bill to compensate Guam for compact migration related costs.

Moylan was also critical of DOE’s lack of support for supplemental security income benefits for the territories.
