Inmate Erson Reselap was captured by officers with the Guam Police Department Sunday night after he allegedly escaped custody while at the Guam Memorial Hospital in Tamuning.

At the time of the escape, Reselap was being held at the Department of Corrections on charges of assault, terrorizing, discharge of a firearm, terroristic conduct and parole revocation.

DOC officials confirm Reselap was taken to the GMH at 4 pm Sunday for an undisclosed medical condition .

Officials said he was taken to the hospital via ambulance and escorted by Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness staff. Three officers with DOC’s Special Operations Response Team followed the ambulance in an official vehicle.

At 7:42 pm, a GBHWC staff reported they lost custody of Reselap. Investigators learned he allegedly got away after he asked to use the restroom.

The escape was then called into to GPD.

Authorities said Reselap was found in the Tamuning area at 11:20 pm and taken back to the prison.

DOC will conduct an internal affairs investigation into the escape.
