Posted: Updated:

A tropical storm warning is now in pace for Guam as Tropical Storm Bolaven continues moving northwest toward the Marianas.

A typhoon watch also remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan.

A Tropical Storm Warning in conjunction with a Typhoon Watch means that tropical storm force winds are expected within 24 hours, and that Typhoon force winds are possible.

As of 7 am, Bolaven was located 455 miles east-southeast of Rota, about 460 miles east-southeast of Guam, and 465 miles southeast of Tinian and Saipan.

The storm is moving northwest at 8 mph. It is expected to turn slightly toward the west-northwest with a slight increase in forward speed over the next 24 hours. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 60 mph.

Bolaven is forecast to intensify through Tuesday afternoon, possibly becoming a typhoon.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 70 miles.
