Woman alleges doctor is ‘the definition of a predator’

Dr. Ugochukwu Akoma is back in court this week preparing for his trial.
Akoma is facing two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct as a misdemeanor. He's since denied the allegations.
The evidence was discussed Thursday before a Superior Court judge, but the hearing was sealed.
His alleged accuser in this case also present in the courtroom.
While this case plays out locally.
Thousands of miles away in California, Autumn Gainer, a woman who has long been following Akoma’s case, reached out to KUAM News, made similar allegations against the doctor.
“He is the definition of a sexual predator on every single level,” she said. “I have tried for the last eight years to make sure that he couldn't do this to my sisters in arms or any other patient.”
Gainer says she worked with Akoma at the Chico VA in 2015, describing him as initially being charismatic and a nice guy.
That's until April 14 that same year, she alleges, Akoma made a pass at her.
“I stood up and he's all ‘give me a hug,’” Gainer said.
“I don't have a problem with that. When somebody asks me for a hug, and it's somebody that i deem friendly, i normally give them a hug without a second thought. When i tried giving him a hug, he tried french kissing me and sticking his tongue down my throat. I try pushing him off me and he won't let go of me. He had me buy my belt loops, and i had to punch him in the chest to get him off me. 18:58
“I'm like, ‘what, what is wrong with you?’ Um, and he's like, ‘oh, you are just so beautiful. I can't- I can't take it, I want you. We need to get together. We need to hook up.’ I was like, ‘you've lost your damn mind.’ I'm like, ‘your wife is gorgeous. Why would you do this? And he’s going on about like, ‘don't judge a book by its cover.’”
She filed complaints against Akoma to several agencies including the Chico Police Department, Iowa Board of Medicine and the Federal Employees Union.
“I filed every which way you could possibly file because i figured if my life was going to be made the living hell which they did, they made my life an absolute living hell to the point six months after the incident, I transferred down to where my best friend lived,” Gainer said. “She lived in Killeen, Texas, I worked at the Temple Texas Hospital, the VA hospital.”
Her case still never made it to court.
After hearing of the allegations on Guam, Gainer contacted the local attorney general's office late last year, saying that she is more than willing to travel here to testify.
She has yet to hear back from them, but adds she was given reassurances they would prosecute Akoma.
As KUAM reported, the Iowa board alleged Akoma made unwanted sexual advances toward female co-workers as far back as 2007 in California, Arkansas, Texas, and Iowa.
Akoma previously claimed the complaints were attempts by his ex-wife to discredit him.
Akoma is currently practicing at his clinic, Hepzibah Family Clinic in Tamuning.
A trial date has not yet been set.
