Andersen commander relieved of duty 'due to shortfalls in his personal conduct prior to taking command'

The Air Force has relieved the commander of the 36th Wing on Andersen Air Force Base of his duties, according to a base press release.
Brigadier Gen. Paul Birch was removed from the top position by Lt. Gen. David Nahom, commander of the Eleventh Air Force. While there was nothing specific mentioned that led to the decision, Brich was let go "due to shortfalls in his personal conduct prior to taking command."
Nahom stated, “commanders must always be held to the highest standards.”
Birch has been on Guam since last June of last year after serving as the chief of the strategic planning integration division at the pentagon.
Col. Larry Fenner Jr. has been tapped to serve as interim 36th Wing commander.
The 36th Wing consists of 8,000 uniformed and civilian personnel.
