Federal suit brought against transportation company for hit-and-run in Piti

The company who employed the tractor-trailer driver accused in a hit-and-run crash in Piti is now facing a lawsuit in the District Court of Guam. The alleged victim seeking $50 million for his injuries.
The lawsuit names defendant Tyrone Oates, Consolidated Transportation Service Inc., doing business as CTSI Logistics Guam, Century Insurance Company Limited, and Chubb Insurance Hong Kong Limited.
It was last May, Oates was driving the tractor-trailer when he thought he hit a tree along Marine Corps Drive in Piti.
Oates allegely kept going, but later told police he would have stopped had be known it was a person.
He faces charges of leaving the scene with injuries and reckless conduct in the Superior Court of Guam.
The company also responded to the federal lawsuit denying Oates was negligent, but admits to the remainder of the allegations.
Trial for the federal lawsuit is scheduled for February 12 of next year.
