Who will be the next full-time leader of our public school system?  The application process to find the next Guam Department of Education superintendent is now closed.  Education officials extended the deadline to apply last month.

That ended on Monday.

Guam Education Board member Dr. Mary Okada says nine people applied and the department is evaluating each application. She declined to release any names. The position - currently held by acting superintendent Francis Santos - was left vacant after superintendent Jon Fernandez stepped down over the summer following his near-decade-long stint.
