After suffering multiple slashes around his neck and body that needed more than 30 stitches to be fixed, Oliver is now on the road to a speedy recovery. Kelsey Graupner is one of the co-founders of Boonie Flight Project and is the one currently taking care of Oliver. She recounts what happened to him and gave a status update on his condition.

"He was posted on one of the rescue pages and how he had been attacked by a machete and the lady that found him was taking him up to GAIN," she said. "So I got a hold of her contact information, I called her and she was waiting in the parking lot of GAIN and I asked her how he was doing if he was friendly still and she said he is the friendliest dog and still wagging his tail. I took him to AMC and Dr. Malakooti fixed him right up and his prognosis is great."

Oliver was attacked behind the Fred Gabriel building in East Hagatna on Aug. 19. He also appeared to suffer from a broken leg, which also seems to be on the mend. Despite all he’s gone through, he still remains very friendly and outgoing. When KUAM went over to meet with Oliver, we were greeted by a wagging tail and lots of loving doggie kisses. Once Oliver is all healed up, he’ll be going to his fur-ever home and will be leaving the island.

"He’s actually just been recently adopted. On our social media page, he has found his forever home," Graupner said. "He’s actually going to New York and going to live there as soon as he’s healed and feeling better."

As of now, there are no new leads to whoever attacked Oliver, but territorial veterinarian Dr. Mariana Turner said that this immoral act must not go unpunished.
