According to a criminal complaint filed by the attorney general's office, 38-year-old prison inmate M.B. koto has admitted to the murder of fellow inmate 69-year-old Cesar Dizon.

A magistrate's complaint filed by prosecutors alleges that Koto stabbed the victim at least 10 times, including to the chest. The victim was found by a corrections officer around 6:40 p.m. Sunday laying on the floor of the minimum security dorm with multiple stab wounds but no apparent "defensive wounds" were observed. A lock-down was initiated, and during a sweep of the unit an officer saw koto wearing what appeared to be fresh clothing and shoes.

The complaint said this was not typical for that time of the evening and when confronted, koto allegedly said, "i did it" then turned around and put his hands behind his back to be handcuffed. Koto also reportedly had a fresh laceration on his left palm consistent with a knife slipping in his hand. A set of soiled clothing was later found in a trash can located near the incident. Three blood-stained knives were also recovered. A kitchen knife was found in the common area, a butcher knife was located in Koto's locker, and a third 12-inch knife was seen tucked away in a kitchen cabinet.

A motive for the murder was not mentioned in the complaint. Koto was serving a five-year term for aggravated assault. The 69-year-old victim Dizon was serving life for the 1995 shooting death of his ex-wife's divorce lawyer. DOC reported that no other inmates appeared to have been in any recent physical altercations.
