Their motto is "We Serve", and on Wednesday afternoon the Guam Tano-Ta Lions Club unveiled their mobile health clinic , which will help provide medical services and diabetes education around the island. According to charter president Dr. John Taitano, who also serves as the director for the mobile clinic, the Lions Club in Chicago donated a grant valued at $150,000 to go toward the purchase of the vehicle.

The overall cost is about $182,000, with local members raising $70,000. The vehicle arrived on island in January with the assistance of Matson Navigation.

"We've been trying to get it operational, but we had to get it registered. We're meeting with different stakeholders and members of the community, the Guam Diabetes Association, the Mayors Council of Guam, The SDA Clinic, the Guam Medical Society, and these individuals to come out and prvide free services to out community," Dr. Taitano told KUAM News.

"We don't want anyone to pay for these things. We currently serve those who don't have medical insurance, or who are unable to pay to come and make use of the services, we're not going to turn away anyone. We're going to help improve the healthcare delivery on Guam.

"That's kind of the Lions Club's purpose."

Dr. Taitano adds that they are grateful for the major donors who made the mobile clinic possible to include Staywell Foundation, Matson Navigation, Copy Express, Daniel Yang, Danny and Clare Cruz, the Guahan Lions Lion Club, as well as Taitano and his wife, Sera.
