Former mixed martial arts fighter Roman Alvarez was indicted for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault. The charges stem from an early morning incident that occurred in Tumon on February 6th.

According to court documents a witness saw a fight between Alvarez and another MMA fighter identified as Joseph “Baby Joe” Taimanglo inside the Komodo Lounge. The witness told police that during the altercation Taimanglo put Alvarez in a headlock and was striking his head with his fists. The fight was stopped and the two left the bar.

Outside in the parking lot, Taimanglo was seen talking with someone when Alvarez allegedly got in his car, revved his engine, and struck Taimanglo. Alvarez reportedly left the scene but his car came to a stop across the street. Court documents state he smelled of alcohol and resisted arrest. Police had to use a taser to bring him under control.

Alvarez was also indicted for Resisting Arrest and faces a Special Allegation of Possession or Use of a Deadly Weapon in the Commission of a Felony.

The 27-year-old was released from the Department of Corrections on Monday to his Third Party Custodians. According to his conditions of release he is to stay away from drugs, guns, alcohol, felons, and have no contact with Taimanglo.
