Department of Public Health and Social Services Director Linda DeNorcey is scheduled to appear in the Superior Court of Guam on Wednesday.  The director is requesting the court allow her to continue the mandatory quarantine of passengers who arrived from Manila on March 19.

"This court is just to emphasize that we issued the involuntary isolation, excuse me, detaining these passengers that came from Manila because they pose a threat to health, safety and welfare," she said. "And so ill justify in front of the judge or the court indicating why those are in place because Guam is receiving a lot of positive cases specifically from the Philippines and the Philippines is a hot spot meaning a lot of infected positive COVID patients are coming from that area."

The court action is only limited to the over 40 travelers from the Philippines that did not agree to complete the quarantine process.

Meanwhile, KUAM has confirmed that on Sunday a quarantined passenger was exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and was transported to the Guam Memorial Hospital and is considered Person Under Investigation or PUI.

"We're looking into that already as we speak we're assessing all that right now so if anyone is identified to be positive there's that likelihood that they would move to his area as I indicated government facility and again we're going to assess that situation," DeNorcey said.

If the PUI turns positive, the individual will be moved to the government isolation facility, she said.
