Guard member graduates with honors from Army Flight School
One of the island's newest pilots for the Guard Army National Guard graduated with honors at Army Flight School
Warrant Officer 1 Devend Cruz was recognized as the Distinguished Honor Graduate after successfully completing the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course on Oct. 25 at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Cruz had to complete the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Candidate School, before attending 14-months of training in Basic Rotary Wing Skills, Basic Instrument Skills, Advanced RW Skills, Basic Tactical Navigation (BTN), and Day and Night Basic Warfighter Skills in the UH-72A "Lakota" aircraft at Fort Rucker Alabama. The final phase of flight training consisted of flight qualification in the UH-60 A/L Army Blackhawk Helicopter, according to a Guard release.
Cruz is with the Detachment 2, Delta Company, 1st-224th Aviation Regiment (Medevac) Unit.
