The Navy announced the award of nearly $1 billion in military construction contracts today.

A news release identifies a wide range of projects to be performed. They include new construction and renovation of barracks, administrative, communication, educational, dining and industrial facilities.

Contractors will also be building new roads, streets, bridges, utilities and other base development facilities. The five companies awarded contracts include Black Construction, and Core Tech based in Guam. Hensel Pacific of Hawaii, California-based Gilbane, and Caddell-Nan of Alabama.

The contract term is for no longer than 60 months, and completion is expected by September 2024.
