by Ken Quintanilla Guam - Shipments that were delayed last week will arrive on Guam at midnight tonight. Matson's general manager for Guam and Micronesia Region Bernie Valencia tells KUAM News all the cargo that was scheduled to arrive on February 25 and March 3 is on the Maunalei ship arriving tonight. She says in order to have cargo available to customers as soon as possible, Matson made arrangements with the Port Authority of Guam and Customs for early and late gates at the port. Valencia adds that in order to reduce the impact of the delay last week, Matson has worked with several wholesalers and retailers to air freight essential produce and chilled items. Regular weekly sailings will return this week with the arrival of the Maunalei. Valencia clarifies that the delay was not as a result of the labor dispute at the West Coast ports, but rather damage to the Maunawili ship following a transpacific storm.
